The Kerala Ayurveda Academy's mission is to to integrate traditional Ayurvedic wisdom and healing with scientific research.

The Kerala Ayurveda Academy is actually built by the Kerala Ayurveda Ltd which is a company that has over 60 years of experience in the Ayurveda business. It is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Its footprint spans academies, products, clinics, hospitals, resorts and services.

KAA is known to offer authentic, Indian sourced education, services and products. The lecturers teaching in the school, have years of experence not just in the teaching industry but also they have practiced Ayurveda themselves for years.

What is the time required to finish a course?

There are 2 main types of degrees for those who want to study at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy.

The Certificates

The Masters Program

There are 2 types of certificates that one can obtained:

Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor (AWC) certification which takes about 500 hours of training

Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner (AWP) certification which is also a 1000 hours training program.

The School is also offering a Masters program to those with a AWC and a AWP.

Even though there are minimum time requirement to be spent within the course to get the certificate, KAA is very flexible when it comes to the actual time it takes for a student to finish the course. They offer online options for students with a busy schedule who can't attend the class. So students are able to learn at their own pace. Teaching materials like Course Materials, Video class recordings, Study Guides, Weekly Teleconferences are all incorporated into the online experience.

Apart from the specific degree programs, KAA is also offering what they call the Individual Courses Study (ICS). Basically, since not all students can attend classes and some may not be interested in all the courses offered in a certain certificate program, there is the option for each student to choose the specific subject he/she wants to study. The school allows the student to focus on just a specific course and get a certificate for that.

On average a fully dedicated student can finish its course within a year.

Is the school accredited?

The KAA certification programs are licensed in the states of California and Washington and offered at 3 locations and online through their eLearning system. It is to be noted that Ayurvedic practice is not regulated by state or federal agencies. That said each graduate has the right to legally practice in any state within the US so far as he/she is within a limited scope of practice so they are not viewed as practicing medicine without a license.

A lot of students actually combine the knowledge they have aquired in ayurveda with other health care related credentials (conventional medicine for example).

How much does it cost to enter the schools?

KAA is offering 2 main certificate and a masters program. The cost differs. There is a non refundable registration fee for those who want to enter ($100).

The Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor (AWC) certification cost $5000 While the Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner (AWP) certification is $11 000. There are multiple payment option to enable the student to pay at a rate that is comfortable for him. Students taking the AWP are automatically entitled to a 20 day Trip to India to learn as well as to experience the healing effects of Ayurveda. The Trip to India will also include visits to Clinics and Pharmacies—including the Kerala Ayurveda Hospital in Cochin—as well as rounds with the doctors and clinical client evaluations.

Where is the school located?

The school can be found in three separate locations. They have 2 branches in California (Los Angeles, Foster City) and one branch in Washington Seattle. That said it is not necessary for a student to personally go there since there is an online study option for those who can't make it to Campus.

What happens after a student gets his/her degree?

KAA has a bulletin board where it posts all job vacancies available at any point in time to enable the students to take the opportunities as they come. KAA will do its best to help graduates to get into practice or a related career.

There are also alumini associations to help students after they get their degree. The student will get to know all those associations by the time he/she graduates.
